Tonight we announced at our AGM that Teams Manager, June Piper, has decided to step down from her role on the committee.
June has been part of the club for over 15 years and has become the 'synchro mum' of the club. We are hugely sad to see her leave as she has been at the heart of the club for so long.
We thank June with all our heart for everything she has done for the club and we hope to see her at any galas and events we hold in the coming future.
June you are a super star and we will miss you, thank you for everything you have done.

For our training session on Saturday 24th October BSSC wore pink in support of Breast Cancer Now's 'Wear it Pink' campaign. After 5 months away, due to Covid lockdown restrictions, BSSC have return to the ice! Welcome to Basingstoke Synchronised Skating Club

We are a welcoming and friendly club that allows figure-skaters of all levels and ages to skate together. We take part in local and national competitions and occasionally compete abroad. Our teams practice one or two evenings a week at Planet Ice, Basingstoke, with additional practices approaching competitions.

Synchronized skating is a discipline where up to 20 skaters (depending on level) skate as a team, moving together as one unit. All the skaters in the team must be similarly competent at a wide variety of skating skills. The team performs a program to music including specified elements and step sequences. Synchronized skating uses the same judging system as singles, pairs and ice dance.

The first synchronized skating team was formed in 1956 in Michigan in the USA and the sport has been growing in popularity ever since. The ISU held the first Synchronized Skating World Championships in 2000 in Minneapolis, USA.

Synchronized skating is not currently an Olympic sport but this is under review.
