After a year and eight months we finally have a synchro competition again!

BSSC were represented by our Adult team Ice Age competing on the first day of the two day event. In the most entered category of the event (Adults) they were one of nine teams completing. They placed eight with a score of 14.36, a great result after a long time away from competing and many new skaters joining the team whom this was their first ever competition! Well done Ice Age!

Thank you to Lee Valley Synchro club for putting on such a brilliant event, and we look forward to the next!

Tonight we announced at our AGM that Teams Manager, June Piper, has decided to step down from her role on the committee.
June has been part of the club for over 15 years and has become the 'synchro mum' of the club. We are hugely sad to see her leave as she has been at the heart of the club for so long.
We thank June with all our heart for everything she has done for the club and we hope to see her at any galas and events we hold in the coming future.
June you are a super star and we will miss you, thank you for everything you have done.

Welcome to Basingstoke Synchronised Skating Club

We are a welcoming and friendly club that allows figure-skaters of all levels and ages to skate together. We take part in local and national competitions and occasionally compete abroad. Our teams practice on Thursday evenings a week at Planet Ice, Basingstoke, at either 6:00pm to 7:00pm or 8:30pm to 9:30pm (see 'Our Teams' tab for further details) with additional practices approaching competitions.

Basingstoke Synchro have a rich history within the sport, winning our first British Championship in 2001 with our Junior team Illusion, our team Storm then becoming British Senior Champions from 2004-2008 therefore competing at the Synchro World Championships in Croatia, Prague, Canada and Hungary. We went on to have further success in 2009 when our Mixed Age team Ice Sensation won at the British Championships and Holland Cup.

About Synchro:

Synchronized skating is a discipline where up to 20 skaters (depending on level) skate as a team, moving together as one unit. All the skaters in the team must be similarly competent at a wide variety of skating skills. The team performs a program to music including specified elements and step sequences. Synchronized skating uses the same judging system as singles, pairs and ice dance.

The first synchronized skating team was formed in 1956 in Michigan in the USA and the sport has been growing in popularity ever since. The ISU held the first Synchronized Skating World Championships in 2000 in Minneapolis, USA.

Synchronized skating is not currently an Olympic sport but this is under review.
